Wigmore eying the top spot after scoring a win over WGTC

Closing in on the top spot

All to play for with eye on top spotThe Millennium Cup leader board is hotting up, with Wigmore tying with Grafton in second place behind Telford Park on points.

The three-times champions are now eying the top spot and a place in the final in September.

Wigmore scored a 6-3 win over holders Woodfield Grove Tennis Club on Sunday 1 June in a tie played away at WGTC.

Both clubs have one more match to play and while WGTC is currently languishing in last place, posing no threat to the leaders, Wigmore is poised to snatch the top spot from Telford, who have completed all their league matches for the summer.

Keeping an eye on the top spotWigmore face Norbury Park away on Sunday 15 June to complete their round robin matches.

Norbury Park, however, have two ties yet to play and still have a chance of catching the leaders but the team will need to score highly to make any significant impact on the front runners at this stage of the competition.

The match report and results of the Wigmore versus Woodfield Grove tie will follow on receipt.
